Question about the latest update

Hello, community!

I have a questions about new changes in last update (version 0.8.6.2-beta).

Most important changes are: block time reduced to 1 minute, block reward is reduced to 80 coins a block, changes in difficulty model.

But what about maximum quantity of feathercoins? And what about block reward halve?

Page “About” (https://www.feathercoin.com/about) has following information:

336 million coins total
Block reward halves every 840,000 blocks

To answer your questions, there has nothing changed in terms of total FTC mined or the date/time of halving the block reward.

The block numbers for the halving have increased by a factor of 2.5 to reflect that there are more blocks produced per hour/day now.

Due to the change from 200 FTC block reward and one block every 2.5 minutes to 80 FTC block reward and one block per minute. The earnings per hour are the same for the miners.

Due to the fact that that the block numbers for halving the block reward have increased by a factor of 2.5 minus the number of blocks already mined at the fork time the total number of Feathercoins has not changed at all.
