Storing Feather Coins

There are several ways to backup your wallets.
The most important information you need to recover your coins are the private keys for your feathercoin addresses.

In order to backup these, you either can copy the wallet.dat to a safe place or use this procedure:

If you are on version 0.8.7x and use the GUI
1. Start feathercoin-qt
2. In the Menubar go to help-> debug window->console
3. in the console window enter ‘dumppirvkey <your feathercoin address>’
4. note down the private key returned in the console window
5. repeat step 3. and 4. for all your addresses
if you are using feathercoind
1. Start feathercoind
2. open a terminal window and enter ‘feathercoind dumppirvkey <your feathercoin address>’
3. note down the private key returned in the console window
4. repeat steps 2. and 3. for all your addresses

Both procedures should work also, if feathercoin changes to a new version, but a saved wallet.dat may only readable by the next version after your current version.
Dumping the private keys is more reliable, but be aware that whoever gets access to the private keys has access full access to the corresponding ftc address and coins stored for that address

You can also use paperwallets. Create one, print it and send the coin to them. My buddy designed this one and I ported the website to work with Feathercoin. There are others available as well.

If you use 0.9.5 wallet, you can copy private keys in address page, then save it to a text file.

We are about to make 0.9.3 the official release now.

Wallet version 0.9.5 will come next as official release, nevertheless anybody can download the sources and compile it. :)

They was nice but bit much time demanding. I did only one but I really wonder where ChrisJ took all the energy, he did like 30 or so. But yes, there are some news lately. I think i can prepare another newsletter, but only brief version, raw data.

Any news is good news in my opinion. even if it’s just vague bullet points !

I had a hard time replying due to spam rules and probably my excitement with exclamation marks, but yes. I am happy and have read it twice and donated to the FTC facebook page stuff. Go FTC!
