Longest Running Block Chains ?
-
Hey Guys,
Anyone know of a crypto stats site that shows how long each cyptocoin blockchain has been running for ?
I can get “first block” information from bitinfocharts.com on some of the coins.
are my calculations correct that the FTC block chain has been running for 2 years 8 months (ish) ?

block 1 been made at 2013-04-16 21:17:40 UTC.

Yes, FTC has nearly been running for 3 years…

@wrapper and 1/3 of all coins is out already

re: how many coins are out…
There needs to be coins out in “circulation” to make a currency.
Having coins “out” gives some “buy in”, to retaining infrastructure
The number of transactions has actually increased recently, in the end (of the POW experiment), mining will be paid by transaction fees
The last 2/3 of coins could each be worth more or less than the current coins, depending on future “perceived value”, as the number given out per transaction reduces “gradually” coins will be given out > 9 yearsP.S. I don’t own the 1/3 …

I use this as a marker…in my mind the coins with the longest running block chains have a better chance of survival, and thus the coins I’m most likely to buy.
using this time to say…I Love the speed of FTC…it’s fantastic.
I also wonder how many FTC have been “lost” (accidentally deleted wallets…bricked machine…forgotten…etc)

@aciddude nobody knows that, but my feeling is, that the number of lost coins is not very high

No way to know for sure. You can guess if people post the coins they lost and we tallied it up.
