Open Condition Monitoring
-
I am a disabled ex academic / senior consultant manager with an expertise in Task allocation and maintenance techniques such as condition monitoring and FMECA.
Whilst / since I have been ill, and not working on the subject, I have gradually outlined Open Condition Monitoring as a potential answer to the current political in-pass. As such some of my other hobbies and interest are Artificial Intelligence and the blockchain, having done some development / testing / advice / forum moderation / for feathercon and bitcoin.
Here is a copy of a letter I have written to Jeremy Corbyn.
Dear Debbie Abrahams MP / Jeremy Corbyn Labour Party Leader :
FYI Re: Capabilities of “Big Brother” / “Mr Computer” / Google’s (A.I. systems)
Developments in Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence techniques and learning systems are advancing at an incredible pace.
I have tried to highlight to you the danger of big brother before. These techniques are available because of common libraries, available open source. We have tested, by developing / training an A.I. song writing system, which runs on an old PC with a Games Graphics card (i.e. not much). Ref1.

This research shows it is now possible for a (simple framework including current open source examples) A.I. system to colourise and add the original (lip read) speech to a old black and white film. You can understand the privacy implications to meetings or other situations where private conversations can be “over looked”.
FYI : Open Condition Monitoring
I was disabled in 2003, but have kept up interest in FMECA, Machine Learning since. I have also helped with the development of alternative currencies and the blockchain.
Myself and an ex-colleague have been discussing an invention of mine which I have made open source. Open Condition Monitoring is a methodology for essentially, monitoring the “political system” and it’s “effects on the environment”, independently.
It discuses how citizen sensors, peer to peer systems and how machine learning can make that possible with current technology. It also discuses a more scientific method of allocating Tasks, which includes how to decide what should be monitored and what it means when that reading changes.
I am currently discussing with 2 academic institutions about contributing or possibly hosting parts of the project (Huddersfield and Cranfeild), now I am getting more assistance from Simon.

Labour Party involvement :
As an open source project, there are many other potential projects and alternative sources of funding (civil / party political / opens source) and also some of your Labour Party colleagues might like to contribute and or as an example to learn Git and document control.
Open Traffic Monitoring Example seed project
I have also have a demonstration community seed monitoring project for traffic flow and noise.
It is a template spreadsheet with a vehicle speed and direction information calculated from video. It shows more detail of the community monitoring aspect of open condition monitoring.
I’ve shown various vehicle analysis techniques, error calculation and vehicle flow calibrated against pollution and an investigation of converting dBC traffic Noise to dBA.
As I said before, I am currently disabled and needed assistance to continue the traffic monitoring project. However there is a lot of accurate information and ideas presented of how other issues can be monitored.
