[Dev] FTC Faucet
-
Introduction:
I intend to develop and maintain a faucet for FTC. The idea behind this is to get new people interested in the coin (the more people interested in the coin the over all value of the coin goes up) although there maybe a few adverts on the website i would like to make it educational, help guide a potential new member of the community into FTC, how to mine it, where to buy with it etc .Get involved
I am control systems engineer by trade with a strong back ground in computer science I can programme in a number of different languages however I am not good at everything! I am no front end developer or artist, so would require the help of someone/some people if possible. That goes for testing it and promoting it too. if you are interested in helping please PM me I will add you to the chat.Longevity
I have not quite decided on how to monition it so that the faucet does not dry up there are a few ways we could take it. We could have advertisements but then they usually nark people off however they would be getting something for free? Or we could rely on a donation model, or a mixture of both. Ideas welcome.Open forum
I am very open to ideas and suggestions please reply below. Even if you want to get involved and you have no programming knowledge, there are plenty of things you could help with.Donations
Thank you to all those who have offered to donate. I appreciate it however please do not donate anything until it is up and running, proven to work and rigorously tested!!Thanks to all those who have showed their support already.

I think adverts are to be expected on a faucet page
-
Ok, yeah I do agree - however wouldn’t like to over do it with adds or them really annoying ones that get in the way.
@Cookieboy thanks for the offer to host it - however i have my own VPS on which work is currently underway. The only thing i am struggling with at the moment is the frond end! ( I cant make things look pretty :( )

Ok if you get that bit done I’ll try and find someone to do frontend, I might even give it a go myself…

@Hal, I am so loving the idea of the FTC faucet, after reading your ideas in more detail. Look forward to assisting on Github.
-
@hal I would love to host this faucet if you wanted. I can spin up a faucet.feathercoin.com site that we can deploy the code on. Always on, and free for the feathercoin community…

Hey people,
Just to let you know work is still underway hope to have something soon. I will be on holiday next week so if i am quiet - thats why I will be AFK most of the time camping etc.
@cookieboy we can have a chat about this when I have something up. For now i am hosting it on my own VPS to get it working etc.
:D

Myself and the other Admins / moderators know, it is the gradual long haul that get these projects done.
That started with guides / FAQ and support, currently it is automating, documenting and leveraging open source tools like Github.
FTC moderators have been worked hard updating the forum, to make the Feathercoin forum an even better arena that contributers can get involved. In particular, technical contributer are the minority, so to be able to drop in and out of when they can, “pick up the thread” literally.
People have done great projects which may not have taken of yet ( e.g. FTC open maps) but were interesting and forward projects at the the time and essentially, FTC volunteers and forum members were happy and enjoyed helping. Other projects don’t go forward for various reasons including peoples other personal priorities.

Does anyone know where I can find the latest approved FTC art work (and would i have permission to use it etc)
I know im suppose to be on holiday but as long as my phone has charge i can still check in! Nailed Ben Nevis today!
Cheers peeps!

Thanks @cookieboy Will grab this on my return from holiday!

Back from holiday! So back to work on the Faucet. Hope to have a intial release soon!
-
@Cookieboy it appears that there are a few dead links on that page for the zips. Who should I contact to fix this?
-
Certainly need to thank @iawgoM for his work on FTC web sites. @AmDD has been doing some fixes like that, we change the link to him for the moment as he’s fixin’ bugs / updating halving count down at the moment and may be able to have a look.
We’ve been discusing ways forward on possibly auto directing such to a support ticket. -

Can we do anything clever with the link so messages go to “Website team”?

As this project seems to be suspended please check out the faucet we have developed at http://ftcfaucet.tk
