Hi guys, I spent a few hours looking into Feathercoin and it’s community, happy to join here :)
-
Welcome to a great community, amazing devs and a fantastic coin!
-
Thanks @Orgest :)

Welcome :)
-
I’d like to ask a technical question in “Technical Development” but I can’t post anywhere else than here so far.
Maybe someone can help me out in here already?
I’m interested to learn more about all the Feathercoin specific changes, such as the following ones listed on the website:
- NeoScrypt Algorithm
- 1 minute Block target
- Block reward halves every 2,100,000 blocks
- Retarget every block with 15, 120 and 480 block averages and 25% damping
- eHRC (enhanced Hash Rate Compensation)
- ACP (Advanced Checkpointing)
and all other changes that either effect consensus or are in another way noteworthy (big features).
Is there some documentation for those?
Or otherwise, where can I find the commits that implemented those features?
I was looking here: https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aclosed but there aren’t any PRs that fit from first sight. In general I’m interested in all changes in Feathercoin and also who was and is a code contributor to Feathercoin. So far I found the following ones:
Past:
https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/commits?author=Bushstar
https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/commits?author=wrapperband
https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/commits?author=cqtenqCurrent:
https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/commits?author=aciddude
https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/commits?author=wellenreiter01Thanks a lot for your time already. I’m happy about any input :)

@lclc_ You can now post everywhere.
Regarding your questions, your findings are right.but from the contributors only Bushstar has fully retired. Wrapperband (= @wrapper in the forum) here does a lot of code analysis, that are input for further changes.
As everybody works on his/her free time there are always periods, where a contributor on Github becomes silent for weeks or even months. for example qtenq (= @lizhi here in the forum), is coding in the back when he has time, but doesn’t show up frequently.Regarding feathercoin specific code changes I can refer to @Wrapper 's excelent work he does with his threads [Dev] Documenting Feathercoin Specific Software settings - Part XX in the Development categorie.

Good questions : but rhetorical?
We have tried to answer all your questions the best we can, I have collated and filtered many here : (see FAQ and Guide)
I will be happy if you can answer them better, we can give you moderator rights to correct the threads, or push details to the Github guide …

Otherwise : the forum contains the complete history of projects including our complaints about lack of documentation or financing unsupportable or unfinished work with “Bounties” vanity projects …
Here is the start of “software change control” documentation for 0.9.6.x series, it is currently ongoing, it aims to provide the “evidence” or “facts” to answer your questions, of what has gone on in detail . …

Thanks a lot for the fast and extensive answers!
Good questions : but rhetorical?
Sorry I didn’t mean to insult anyone or complain. English is not my mother language.
I’m just looking for more ressources (which you provided already, thanks!).Here is the start of “software change control” documentation for 0.9.6.x series, it is currently ongoing, it aims to provide the “evidence” or “facts” to answer your questions, of what has gone on in detail . …
This looks very helpful, thanks for your work.
I’m also curious to check out the source code in more detail soon :)

It’s hard to bring people up to speed on 4 years open source development and all that entails, without appearing brusk. The appeal was genuine in this case, not at all sarcastic. The answers (to your questions) are a process not a feeling.

@lclc_ …no need to be sorry :-) @wrapper is right.
The way I see it… Everyone starts somewhere…recently we’ve had a big influx of either new users or returning users from 2013/2014
The new users are usually quite excited about Crypto and just want their questions answered as quickly as possible…so I’ve personally found that most of the new users would rather ask a question (most of them are repeat questions from other users) Than to actually read through tons of documentation…
The best place to start is here:
http://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/8523/faq-new-forum-member-most-asked-questions-try-here-first@wrapper put it a lot of work organising that list - each question is very straight forward and a link to the topic/answer is provided
If you receive short or blunt/brusk answers it’s usually because we are answering the question directly…in a perfect world you should do your own research ;-)
Read read read :-) knowledge is power.
