Wallet slow to sync
-
Hi - Yep we are aware of this issue.
Unfortunately due to the many attacks feathercoin suffered in the early days, there are a few orphan chains that need to be processed by the client…this takes a while. We’ve sped this process up in our next version that we hope to release shortly.
I’m uploading a bootstrap.dat file as I type this. This is a copy of the blockchain, you can then place this file inside your %appdata%/Feathercoin folder , start your client and it will read the blockchain from your disk. it still needs to validate the blocks but it is faster…(depending on the speed of your machine/harddrive)
Will post the link when I have it.

Hi and welcome
-
@acidd Thanks for the quick reply! Downloading it now!
-
It took extremely long for me as well. There were a couple times where I was 100% convinced that it had frozen, and stopped updating. I got to where I would just close the wallet out, and restart it before I left for work in the morning, and do the same thing as soon as I got back home. I think it took almost a week, and I have a solid connection, as well. Be patient! =o)
-
Yes, I have been trying to Sync wallet for over 1 week now… and I am still 2 years and 33 weeks behind.
If people can’t Sync their wallets, they can’t buy FTC.
-
@channard well…not necessarily… you can still purchase FTC on an exchange, and send them to your wallet. You just won’t see your actual balance, or be able to send them back out of that wallet until the blockchain is 100% confirmed. You don’t buy FTC with your wallet. You simply store them there.
-
@jimmy24651 Oh sure, that sounds awesome… Until the wallet works, i’m not risking it. If I was only putting in $100, sure, I wouldn’t mind not having a fully operational wallet. Since I plan on putting in significantly more, I expect the wallet to work 100% and to fully sync. No questions asked.
Edit: I am already hesitant about having to use a Desktop Wallet as it is. I prefer my Trezor/Ledger for storage.
-
you always can create a paper wallet and use that.
Fully secure, unless you loose the printed paper
-
@channard To each their own…
I personally LOVE the idea of being able to invest in a SOLID coin, such as FTC at such a ridiculously undervalued price as we see currently. I am willing to put up with a few headaches (if waiting for a wallet top sync can even be misconstrued as such) to get in early!
-
@channard And for the record…every windows-based wallet I’ve downloaded has taken quite a while to sync to blockchain…it’s not like FTC has some type of an issue. It just is what it is…if you’re going to use a wallet which synchronizes with the entire chain, you have to be patient. I seem to remember hearing a few people in my life who were older and wiser than myself say something along the lines of “patience is a virtue”.
-
This has been a major support issue, the new version 0.9.6.2 coming out should make it a lot quicker. I will not be sad not to see sync issues problems a thing of the past.
-
@acidd I downloaded this file but am running the wallet on my mac. I tried to find the library on my mac but can’t find it. Is it the same dbase and where should I save it on a mac?
My wallet is synchronising but running for a full week now. Checking the debug window/networktraffic it shows block being send and received of 40KB/s.
My bandwidth is about 45Mbps down.
1.719.992 blocks done.Thanks

You need to go here:
~/Library/Application Support/Feathercoin/
If you’re on MacOS you can either try this Bootstrap.dat file or you can wait a day or two - we are going to release 0.9.6.2 which has a much faster sync than 0.9.6.1
-
I downloaded the updated wallet but it’s still extremely slow to sync. Did I do something wrong when updating? Uninstalled 0.9.6.1 64bit before installing 0.9.6.2 32bit and kept the appdata folder as it was
-
no, you did everything right.
with version 0.9.6.2 the sync still needs several hours to complete

@madhawk
Follow this procedure to open your Library folder:
Click your “username”
Go to Finder and click “Go”
Press the “Alt” button and you’ll see “Library” appearing
Click on “Library” while holding “Alt” button
“Library” folder opens and go to “Application Support” folder
Look for your “Feathercoin” folder -

@acidd
That’s correct -
Thank you to everyone in this thread - I am working through the same issues and using this thread to move the process of sync my wallet. Sync Feather = right of passage ;)

Hi,
the link to https://ufile.io/8ysgb is not longer valid (unless you subscribe to their premium contract). Can someone republish it please?
I’m on 0.9.6.2, but sync is still only half way through (block 1023813) after 24hrs…
