FTC important issue

Hello community,
I will try to explain my problem and hopefully, you can solve this because I can’t.

When I first joined FTC, I downloaded the previous version of the wallet and before the wallet synchronized completely, I bought some FTC and I sent them to the address of the wallet which was synchronizing. However, I can’t see them because the wallet isn’t synchronized, of course.
When the new wallet software came out, I installed it and now it is still synchronizing it.
my questions are:
Is it possible to get access to my founds without waiting for the FTC wallet to synchronize?
Have I lost my FTC coins when I upgraded the wallet’s software?
