After speaking with Bushstar that was the impression I was getting that it was a difficulty ceiling change not a floor change.

[/quote]Without the floor change as well we would have the same flood and then difficulty would never be high enough to prevent a centralization of coins.

[/quote]Huh? What pool are you with? My estimated is only 53’ish off 1260kH/s and I earnt 62 yesterday and so far 41 today (with a block needing 6 confirms for approx another 11) - And this is with wemineftc :o (whom incidentally I have never had any issues with)

[/quote]I am over there on give-me-ftc as well and I found the last block. The more people mining the higher consistency we will have for getting blocks. It seems like we had a pretty bad streak going for a while. Once the diff goes down we should see more consistently found blocks.
I really like give-me-ftc a lot and they have by far the lowest reject rate of all the pools I have been in at about .05% to .1% and the servers always run smooth.

Just looked at the current network hashrate and it’s just below 200 KHashes at the moment… almost double of what it was before the last retarget, right? :) :) :)

Given the current hashrate what would the next difficulty retarget be if the 40% difficulty change didnt exist?

if no limit I think it’s linear so the target is 2.5 block/min we are at 31min: 2.5/31*94 = 7.58.
But this would means profitability is way over BTC/LTC so we will not get so low profit oriented miner will be here at next diff change or even before if the price go up a bit again, at .00073 BTC we are at ~94% BTC and ~92% LTC. so miner will begin to switch. the new diff of BTC has make GPU mining less attractive for BTC and alt will get some hash rate, but probably in profitability and stability as 2 criteria. a diff resonance coin is not good for a steady miner so we should get some, but most will go LTC until we get a bit over it in profitability our stability is pretty good so stability oriented profit miner will begin to come here starting at next diff of LTC in ~3days and more at our diff change in 5 days.
a 60-70 diff and 2GH/s should be sweet spot. but 10-15 retargets will be required before getting on the sweet spot correctly we will overshoot a bit on both side, but the 41.4% will keep us around that spot.
that is my opinion.
note: LTC is going from diff 638 to 750-780 if continue like that
