      Hello,

Every time I use my password to unlock me Feather coin wallet I get an “assertion failed”
Now I can’t access my Coins even though My password is correct and I gain access to them days earlier. Please help me out.

I have even uninstalled and reinstalled both 32bit & 64bit and every time I try to withdrew my funds I get the same message. Yet, if I try a wrong Password Key I don’t get prompted with the message. Only one that stated it was the incorrect one.

Though when I do enter the right (I mean of course it right) password key I get prompted with the message and it crashes the wallet and I have to relaunch it.

Please help. Any information you need to help solve this problem I will give to you.

It is a Windows Laptop running Windows 10 64bit system.
            I currently now running V0.13.1.0-Beta (64bit)
            It was downloaded from www.feathercoin.com
I use Bitdefender as my Anti-virus software.

I have tried to reload a older version of a Wallet.dat, still the same message.
I can’t move any of my funds.

Did you backup your private keys?

Did you try to unlock via console?

              -> walletpassphrase PASSWORD 9999

When you reinstalled the wallet, did you let it resync? or just use the old blockchain data files? Id personally delete everything but the wallet.dat file, then reinstall. Let it sync and then replace the new wallet.dat with your existing one.

@AmDD Thank you. I did let it re-sync. Yet, I’ll try your Idea by removing everything and reinstalling it.
Yes I have backed up my wallet every time I gain new funds.

@ChekaZ I did not back up my private Key… That sound like a idea for next time. I did try an unlock the console. When using the right Password I get that error then it crashes. When I try a wrong password it just says as normal “Wrong password”.

I`ll try both ideas and let you know. I hope it works as I have a lot of fund there lol.

Quick question for everyone also for @AcidD
On the Feathercoin.com site when downloading the new wallet. The site says Version 0.13.0.0 then when i download the Windows version it says Version 0.13.1.0.
Which one is the right version to download?

either 0.13.0.0 or 0.13.1.0 both are fine.

It was just a label issue, the links already pointed to 0.13.1.0 wallets. I changed the label.

Hey dude. Sure I’ll do my best.

Do you have access to either a Linux or MacOS machine ? My idea is to try and load your wallet onto another machine and try to access it.

We need to figure out if this error is windows only, which is why I’m suggesting MacOS or Linux.

Also what you can try to do is run Feathercoin-qt from the command line.

                                So

                                1 - find the feathercoin-qt.exe (usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Feathercoin\feathercoin-qt.exe

once you have found the feathercoin-qt.exe file…

2 - Load command prompt and navigate to the folder location
                                cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Feathercoin\

now you should be inside the directory that has feathercoin-qt.exe on it.

now we need to try and salvage your wallet so run the below command when you’re inside the directory that has feathercoin-qt.exe in it.

                                feathercoin-qt.exe -salvagewallet

                                Example:
                                0_1524062317426_32e64b12-10ce-4b5f-b273-6bde5d57fcec-image.png

let me know how you get on.

Sorry for the late update. I had some personal situation to attend to. I have another windows PC which I am loading the wallet on. Then I am going to try it on the other laptop.

The feathercoin-qt.exe -salvagewallet didn’t work as it crashes my computer. I know you are trying you best to help me. I am greatly appreciated. It’s frustrating that my coins are “Locked” in a way.

Still nothing. I get the same error. I installed the Windows version of the wallet on 3 different computers and still get the same error. Something about Line 198 in the Feather Coin code is causing the problem.

Let me know if that help @AcidD

The only thing I can suggest is to try on a Mac or Linux machine and see if it loads.

@AcidD I do have a question. My secret passcode had a Asterisks in it. Would you think that effected the wallet from not working?

The asterisk character should not cause an issue with wallets.
